The Kia Soul breathes fresh air into the competitive small and subcompact crossover market. The road is almost saturated with traditionally shaped SUVs that evolved off sedans and hatchbacks, making a Kia Soul stand out. The sporty SUV has six trim levels, but what else sets each trim apart? Read on below to find out!
Trim Level Breakdown
LX: The most basic Kia Soul manages to get almost 150 horsepower maximum harnessed by a 6-speed manual or an available automatic transmission. The infotainment screen is 7 inches and compatible with both Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®.
S: An intelligent variable transmission, lots of modern driving sensors and aids, larger wheels, and premium cloth seats firmly plant the Soul in the new decade. This is the Soul for budget-minded shoppers who obsess over safety.
GT-Line: The Soul moves into sporty territory with the GT-Line red accent exterior trim. Many of the driving sensors of the S trim return, meaning the biggest difference between the two trims is visual.
X-Line: Two-tone paints, fog lights, and roof trim make the X-Line another visual step up from the GT-Line. Where the GT-Line uses red accents, the X-Line uses Silver accents.
EX: This trim finally makes real internal changes to the Soul. The infotainment screen stretches to 10.25 inches and uses the Kia UVO user interface. A power-adjusting heated driver seat and dual-zone climate control make the EX a premium driving experience. A wireless charger will be welcomed by most drivers and passengers, especially as phones standardize this feature. Not only that, but the EX offers more color options than any other trim level.
GT-Line Turbo: The “Turbo” in its name isn’t for nothing. A 1.6L inline 4-cylinder turbo engine boosts the maximum horsepower up to over 200. 18-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, and unique sport exterior design improve the exterior, while SOFINO and cloth trimmed seats, a Harman/Kardon® speaker system and paddle shifters boost the interior.
