Tips on How to Open a Frozen Car Door
How are you holding up with the cold temperatures this winter season? Are you ready to throw in the towel and move to Arizona? Or are you still loving Pennsylvania and eager to get out and do some ice fishing, snowmobiling, or skiing? Those cold temperatures can be especially hard on your Kia – and we are not just talking about the battery draining or the engine being a little reluctant to start during a 50-below polar vortex. During a major snowfall – especially if it is a wet and heavy snow or the storm starts with some freezing rain and then the temperatures drop – the doors on your Kia could potentially freeze shut. So what can you do to open those doors that doesn’t involve waiting for spring? Continue reading and find out!
- Make sure that the doors are unlocked.
- Loosen up the door by pushing and pulling on it. After a couple of minutes, the door should open for you.
- Is the door still not opening? Try using a hair dryer to thaw out the door seam. Another product that works is a de-icer that you can find at your favorite chain auto parts store.
- You can also try pouring warm water on the door seam. Just don’t use hot water because it might shatter your windows!
From all of us here at Performance Kia, we hope that you have a safe and wonderful winter season. Stay warm!
